My nephew was born yesterday morning at 8:17.
7 lbs 5 oz. Pictures don’t do him justice, he is perfection in person.
I’m already in love, he is my sunshine.
(my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey…i sing it to him. :) )
I just wanted to share this happy moment in my and my family’s life with you all.
I hope you all are well and I am trying to get back into the groove of posting.
I have my monthly subs coming to me so I can do those. Its my birthday so I’ll probably be buying some makeup but otherwise I really haven’t been. But that is no excuse to not be here. :) Cant wait to return full force, I miss posting and talking with you all. Regardless in the meanwhile I am always here, you can contact me through here or my facebook.

Urban Decay 24/7 mini liners- Electric.
Probably one of the best kits, each color is great & great quality per usual.
Full post tomorrow but I wanted to share how great the kit is.
I believe it is still on sale on UD website.

Mini drugstore haul 4/16/12.
I only got a few things, but wanted to share anyway. My mom got a free $40 from CVS (from their cash back thing on the end of the receipts) so I was allowed half of it.
I’ve been more into nails lately (not over makeup or more than, just very into keeping my nails tidy) so I went that route because there was no makeup I needed or wanted there.
I’m almost out of my cuticle cream so I wanted to try it in another form, I’m so glad I did. I used it last night and its awesome. Easier, better. I like the cream too but this is definitely best if you want a less messy, quick, and effective way.

Then i got another set of impress nails, the same ones I got last time. Last time I wore them they looked great and when I took them off they weren’t even ready to come off! So I decided to go ahead and get them again. I personally think they look best in french.

Under my swatches/review tab are pictures of it opened showing the bottle and everything.
I had been eyeing this sally hansen salon effects strip for a long time so decided to go ahead and get it.

Lastly, I got a NYC nail polish for $1. “Empire State Blue” I tried it last night and its really pretty. You have to put on at least 3 coats to make it right though. I’m going to wait to wear it until I have the base and top coat since it’d just chip fast otherwise and painting it would be quite tedious.

Thats all but I’m very happy with it.
I’m expected in the mail in a day or two the mini betsey johnson nail polishes and the sephora OPI kit with the base and top coats and drying spray.
Going to do my nails today, thinking of doing the love nail strips.

More eye shadows on bases VS on their own.
I found with this round of them it mostly made a difference on the matte shades.
I used 8 shadows found in my new Tarte Rising Star Palette (review/swatches on my swatches tab)
I first swatched them over NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk and then over nothing.
I broke it down into 1/2 as well to get a closer look.
First I’ll show the ones of the base, then over nothing, then compared.
As I said, mostly made a difference with the matte shades but you can see the differences.
Over the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk:

Over no base/primer:

Side by side, top over base, bottom over nothing:

I have fun doing these just to see the differences myself but I figured I’d share them all with you while I have the swatches on and the camera next to me. :)
If there are any particular shadows/bases/etc. you’d like me to do let me know.

Eye Shadows- On Bases VS On Their Own.
I decided to swatch some of my eye shadows over a few bases- and then on their own (no primer) just to see the difference side by side.
I know that primer, (Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Urban Decay Primer Potion) makes a difference in itself but bases is a whole nother thing.
For some it can make the colors pop, and others it can change them. Bring them out, or if it’s a duotone bring out one color more. It all depends on the base and color of the shadow.
I started with a few different bases.

The bases I used go as follow:
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tenacious Teal x2, NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk x3, Maybelline Color Tattoo in Audacious Asphalt x2.
Next I put eye shadow over the bases.
I then put the following over in order:
Makeupgeek Mermaid, MAC Tilt, 1/2 of a Stila duo, Urban Decay Fishnet, Honey, Zero, and Mildew.
Up close from base categories. Refer to above if you want to know which base and/or eye shadow was used.

Next I swatched the same eye shadows in the same exact order, but on just my skin and no bases or primers.

You can see their “true” colors here, but with the bases it brings out them a bit more. The teal skews the true colors a bit but also brings out the teal. The Urban Decay shadows are already super pigmented so the bases give them a good boost but they stay true to color either way mostly. The Stila duo definitely got upped with the base.

If you have any questions or comments send me an ask. :)
Just thought I’d share my little experiment today.
XO
